Tarot Goodness for the Week of May 31st-June 6th, 2010: The Sun
Happy June, everybody!
ZOINKSOK. So maybe we are undergoing some not-very-happy occurrences on our planet, in our towns and homes and cubicles, even within our communities, right now. Maybe some of us have just woken up to a WTF moment and we're not going to budge without our coffees.
I understand. But we'd better get used to this stuff. And just because chaos, disorder, noise, etc, is becoming the norm around here, it doesn't mean that we need to be a part of any of it. It'll be tempting to check out the scene and satisfy some of our senses of adventure all month. However, we'll be better off if we just repel boredom sensibly by making little alterations to our routines and schedules. Maybe we'll begin and end our days a little earlier than usual-- a great idea since keeping a low-profile will be key, as will adhering to a curfew. Maybe we'll take up a new course of action.
Get your stuff done early, during the day if you can.
A change of routine is kinda gonna be the theme of this week as well as of June itself. Add to that some PLAYTIME and the act of CHOOSING where, in what and in whom our energies and strengths will be applied. Many will be choosing an investment and contributing to it. An investment means a variety of things-- a property, business, endeavor, person, relationship, activity, trip, environment, family, home, etc, etc. It needn't have to have a pricey tag on it. All an investment is is a commitment that requires a combination of what we value-- ourselves, our bodies, our time, our energy, our efforts and sometimes even our money.
The typical expectation is that an investment rewards us in the long-run, yes?
Well, no. Wait. Some of you might reasonably expect a reward or two in the long-run. But an impatient, greedy rat-bastard may demand to see results as early as yesterday.

Sorry. I strive to be fair on this blog.
Anyway, we expect that, at some point in the future, we will see something or more out of that investment than what we put in, correct?
Not so fast, folks. It depends on whether we (FIRST and FOREMOST) are able to AFFORD our investment. Then it's off to see how much we expect to generate from it. If we can't afford an investment, and we decide to take it on, we've already lost on the investment. And if what we expect to generate from our investment is unrealistic, it is just that-- unrealistic.
A return on our investments may not happen for a number of reasons. An in-your-face reason is that others may not be able to afford what we have to offer, especially during a tough economic climate.
A second, and sometimes overlooked, reason is depreciation. No one wants to believe that what they have to offer may lose value. Because what we have to offer is valuable, right? Oh, it all just fucking rocks, doesn't it? Yeah.
Yeah, well, what we have to offer can and does depreciate in value, regardless of how hepped-up on ourselves we are. Normal wear and tear and age are all causes of depreciation.
But these are just surface factors. What about the inner-factors, like a reluctance to expand our knowledge? A stubborn refusal to exhibit flexibility? A fear of being unique or taking a risk or developing an open-mind and an open-heart? These choices-- and they ARE choices-- will cause our investments to depreciate in value as well, simply because they inhibit their growth.
And many of us are LEARNING and EXPERIENCING all of this, aren't we?
The message all month is that we invest what we actually have in our possession, and that we forget what we've invested and just go with it.

Poof goes our time, energy and funds. Got it? The Returns policy around here won't be so flexible. There is no guarantee whatsoever that we're going to receive more than we invest, if we even earn back what we've invested!
So if we're not ready to part with our precious-whatever, then let's not. Let's just spare our sanity... and not.
The same goes for a loan. Let's not take out or lend any money or other items that we need back by a particular deadline. Chances are we won't get them back, or it'll take a reeeeally long time to get or repay these funds back. So if we're worried about getting our loans repaid pronto, then we were never capable of making those loans in the first place. If we don't want to part with an item, we should also keep from loaning it, and that is that.
The same goes for our desire for shiny, new, expensive items. I realize that some of us are bored or in need of a change, but we don't need these things, folks. You know it, and I know it. That said, there's no urgency for the newest model of __________. And there's no reason to ask for one either.
A FUN investment is preferable, folks. Because fun always feels right. Always. Hell, there's even that quote, "time flies when you're having fun", to support that sentiment. When has fun ever felt wrong?
For the record, I'm not talking about too much fun, or what some of you consider "fun" such as drinking it up, barfing and pissing it out, and suffering a hangover the next morning. Exaggerated fun comes with a hefty price.
I'm talking about a carefree, light sense of fun. Enjoyment. Pleasure and pride in what we decide to do. PLAYFULNESS. If our investment or job feels like play, we will shine at it, my friends. We are more focused while at play than we are while under the obligation of a purpose.
Don't forget to read rules and instructions. Then, uh, we might actually wish to follow those?
Make your introductions, and don't leave cellphones and contact cards at home-- bring means of communication with you all month long. This is a huge opportunity for networking and initiating new friendships and partnerships, and I do mean huge. We want to make sure that we can be reached, and that we can contact others.
Aw. We sure do shine when we play, don't we?

Yeah, we shine as brightly as the Sun, which is this week's Tarot card! Keywords include illumination, clarity, confidence, ego, life, creation and creativity, gumption, gratitude, time-management, self-validation, self-sufficiency, blessings, God, masculinity, a fresh start, strength, empowerment, INDEPENDENCE and SELF-RELIANCE. With the Sun, one can also think of our solar system.
This card suggests that we count our blessings. That we cease putting off for tomorrow what we can accomplish now. And that we adjust our schedules so that we can ease into our days better, meet deadlines without rushing, and still have time for play.
Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.
The early bird catches the worm.
There are only 24 hours in a day, folks.

Also, (and this is not intended to scare anyone) we have some dynamic astronomical news headed our way. Stay tuned for that.
Near-misses, anyone?

Some of us need to thank our lucky stars for having abandoned an unhealthy situation, recently. We'd done so in the nick of time.
We never know who we're gonna meet all of this week and throughout the month of June. This card denotes a powerful connection, partnership or meeting of the minds with another, likely a male or an individual with similar interests and with masculine zodiac signs (Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius) prominently located in his/her astrological chart. This person will aid us in some way, perhaps by lifting our spirits, easing our nerves, teaching us survival skills or assisting us in becoming more independent, especially financially.
Guys, the sun is connected to life on our planet. It is our life-giving force. Without the sun's energy, we cease to exist-- it's that simple. So a connection is definitely on the horizon here. Don't miss it for such an experience will be invaluable, and there is tons of potential for growth. The road is open.
Some of us self-made folks will get our big break as the spotlight will be on us.
We couldn't be in a better time and place than now and where we are stationed to choose an investment or two. The hardships of the past couple of months have equipped us with sense, patience, extra income in some cases, and the know-how with which to proceed with our plans. I suggest focusing on short-term goals versus long-term ones for now. The Sun advises that we not put off until tomorrow what we can do today, so, yeah, short-term goals all the way. They're doable. One step at a time.
With the Sun here, we can rely on the CLARITY necessary to see and plan and accomplish our goals. The sun brightens everything up, making all visible to us.
For some, this card will bring about a good teacher, mentor, counselor, guide, etc. Or we will be that mentor, teacher, counselor, guide, etc.
Some of us are stellar people, but we cannot save everyone, especially not before we save ourselves. How can we attempt to rescue someone or something while, at the same time, putting our own futures at risk? We cannot be weak-- financially, emotionally or physically--for a rescue mission. We cannot.
To top that off, we happen to live in a tense time. Not very many are fortunate or capable of helping us out.
So before we decide to rescue something or someone, or to delve into a cause, we'd better ensure we have all our ducks in a row. We'd better ensure that we are capable of staying afloat. If we haven't been learning to become more self-reliant, we'll begin to learn that now, and it will be a process that will omit a lot of stress and tension.

I like that Suze Orman links financial debt to depression and weight gain. We're not depressed or gaining weight because we're not rich. We fall into pits like depression because we have lost control over our cash flow. Then we seek rewards and power in purchases. These items lose their glitz in a short time, though, and we wind up "hungry" all over again. It's a nasty cycle.
Eventually, we lose control over our lives in general, and some of us wind up hating ourselves for it.
In recent episodes of the Suze Orman Show, Orman displayed before-and-after photos of guests who'd taken on their financial problems and have come out on top. All of them appeared happy and free, coincidentally having lost weight in the process.
When we hear the word "oppression", some of us tend to think of other countries and cultures. We also tend to look away from our own challenges while defining it.
The truth is that oppression comes in many shapes and forms sizes, some of which are out of our control, but most of which are our own fault. Oppression is not limited to another country or culture. Many of us, through our financial debts and expectations, have oppression sitting right in our backyards.

Fortunately, in the Sun card, we find freedom from oppression. Why? Because this card is about self-reliance and independence. When we're self-reliant, we depend on ourselves and our own resources. When we're independent, we owe nothing to anyone-- not a red-cent. The assistance of others is great, there are times when we'll need it, and we can use it. But a hand will not be mandatory all of the time from here on out.

It's safe to say that there will be a LOT to learn and be able to do ourselves. And just in time, too, when many others won't be able to help out.
That said, there are no excuses for us to fuck up now. Mistakes we've made, and everything we've tried and failed or succeeded at, is at our disposal for review. Because of our pasts, we are now in a position to handle more than we've ever thought we could. We've learned not to bite off more than we can chew as well as to make do with less-- this has rewarded us with the ability to appreciate just about anything.
This week will give us a taste of what is coming in the next four weeks. And I'll say it again: what we learn in June will be invaluable, so please pay attention and take notes whenever possible.
And whatever we do, let's not get cocky or overdo anything. NO frills. Please. Please don't make others vomit.

In other news, guess who's coming to dinner?
Unexpected guests, probably. Let's be prepared for that. If they don't show up for dinner, they'll show up for news or our possessions, in the form of intruders, invaders or nosy-bodies. And if they're not friends, they're enemies, rodents or other assorted pests.
Zap 'em. Showing up unexpectedly is rude, unless there is an emergency or if you're a friendly, familiar face. Zap. Them.
The MY-PENIS-IS-BIGGER-THAN-YOUR-PENIS battles continue. And, of course, the Sun will highlight issues and concerns we'd rather not discuss or confront. These are issues/concerns we'll need to discuss and confront for the sake of putting them to rest. Unattended issues will not let us live in peace. Like the sun, they will grow, they will become more and more hot and obvious, they will be blindingly powerful and they will consume us. Our concerns can and will interrupt our most intimate moments-- they will show up to dinner uninvited, for example. Our worries can haunt us and our financial futures. Unless we can live with this kind of stress, I suggest we crush it.
Speaking of crushing, our opponents or enemies will be crushed under the influence of this card. I really don't think that a senseless, arrogant attacker knows what's coming to him/her. Backlash is not going to be pretty, but this is what happens when we underestimate an opponent. Some of us want to be stupid? So be it.
I hope that we come to an understanding, folks. I really do. There are so many fearless people out there who have nothing to lose, and who are willing to fight in order to make things right. Unethical practices simply will not do anymore. And it'll be harder and harder to bullshit others from here on out.
God, that Terminator photo makes me happy.
Hasta la vista, baby.

Swoon.
We are the stars of our own show. And the Sun is a promising card to get in a reading. Make it promising for you and to heck with the "haters".
Congratulations to some of you out there.
Have an awesome and sunny week!
