A Thanksgiving Leftover

So I was talking to my super friend, Paulie's mom, tonight.  And she asked me about Paulie's activities of the day.

"How was his poop?" she asked.

Now, I know that this sounds gross.  But I don't care about how you feel about my words.  And the reality is that Paulie's stool gets extra-soft when he eats too many good-for-him, Wellness "Pure Rewards" treats.  That is why I only give him ONE, rectangular jerky treat right before our afternoon walk.

Somehow, I got into my head many moons ago that his legs would be moving and blood would be flowing, and that the digestion of said treat would be magical and perfect.  That the treat would exit smoothly from his system.  And, well, call it wishful thinking on my part but this train of thought has worked wonders.  Paulie's stool is just a level below firm merely 10% of the time!

Anyhow, since I'd cut back dramatically on the Wellness treats he loves so much, I asked, "why?"

"Because," she explained, "last night we went out for a walk.  And Paulie stopped to sniff some leaves.  And I thought, aw, he's sniffing leaves-- how cute.  I waited and waited until he was done sniffing leaves so that we could move another inch forward.  But I got tired of waiting.  And I became a little curious.  So, I looked down at him..."

Uh-oh.

"... And, Deb, there was a piece of someone's leftover turkey in Paulie's mouth!  It must have slipped out of a garbage bag nearby.  But it was in his mouth and I tried to fight for it, but he was too quick.  He ate it!"

Paulie's mom continued, "And I just thought that he might have had some poop trouble, today."

Needless to say, I lost it.
